low iron symptoms

Anemia is the result of a lack of iron in the body, which is brought on by lack of intake of the mineral, or a conflict between minerals being ingested that causes iron in the either poorly absorbed, or purged out of the body. There are several low iron symptoms that result from the deficiency, among them loss of endurance, chronic fatigue, frequent injuries or illnesses and exhaustion. Additional side effects that can be visually detected include pale fingertips and loss of color under the eyelids people some subjects known to suffer from PICA, or cravings for ice or certain other nonfood items.

The reason these low iron symptoms is the lack of oxygen in the body and blood system, brought on by the fact that there is not enough iron to help act as a carrier for the oxygen. This condition leads to the exhaustion and associated symptoms – fatigue, shortness of breath, weakness, headache, lightheadedness, cold feet and hands, etc. Some subjects also experience in flamed or sort, brittle nails, a poor appetite, and restless leg syndrome. Some women could miss a period while in an anemic state.

To combat low iron symptoms or prevent them from emerging, one should attend to all the factors that may cause it. You should first of all be eating sources that provide the iron you need, particularly red meat, dark beans, green vegetables and the like. If you conduct high intensity exercise regularly, this could be causing a drain on your iron stores, and you may have to consume more of it to compensate. Women may lose iron from menstruation, and men or women who lose blood after injury may actually get a low iron level. And, excessive perspiration from workouts, humid environments or other circumstances can cause iron to leave the body.

The best one-stop solution to head off any iron deficiency and low iron symptoms is to eat more meat. This is because the form of the mineral stored in meat (heme iron) is more absorbable and tolerable to the body. It will keep your stomach from experiencing any serious upset from ingesting the iron, since meat heme iron will become liquid quickly once suggested and not precipitate. If one suffers from an iron deficiency for an excessive period of time, despite attempts to restore normal levels through diet, supplementation should be considered as an option.
